| There are two Round-Up dresses this year. The traditional short skirt in solid red with the bottom ruffle made from the “official” Round-Up fabric (stars) and a small white ruffle between the red & stars. The red blouse has unique sleeves with an inset of the stars surrounded by a small white ruffle and then ruffles around the neck in red, white and the stars. The dress is completed with a white petticoat and white or red shoes. You will need approximately 5 yards of the red; 2 yards of the white and 4 yards of the stars fabric to make the skirt and blouse. |

The long red, gore prairie
skirt flares just at the knees where the bottom portion of stars is offset
with white trim. Deegee Bailey used Simplicity pattern 7962 for the
skirt. The blouse is of the same red as the skirt with the stars & white
trim around the neck and stars around the sleeves. Deegee suggest using
Butterick pattern 3383, view C and modifying the sleeve. You will need
approximately 4-5 yards of the red; 2 yards of the white and 4 yards of
the stars fabric to make the long skirt and blouse.

We suggest a solid color shirt for
the men with a preference of either red or navy. However, if those colors are
not available a solid white or the light blue in the stars fabric is
acceptable. If the men prefer western shirts, then a yoke can be made from the
“official” Round-Up stars fabric or left plain. Deegee is making two ties this
year, the traditional western tie or what she calls a formal flat tie, both from
the stars fabric.

| You don’t have to make either of these dress styles; make your own style using the stars fabric and the Texas color scheme. The “official” fabric is found at Wal-Mart and costs $3.96/yard. To assist you in locating Wal-Mart stores that still carry fabric, click below for a listing of stores around the Metroplex. A sample of the fabric, Anything Goes – Stars (W6742-J) is shown above along with the red broadcloth fabric. The red & white fabric is located at Hancock Fabrics and should be in all locations. It is a standard Hancock fabric called Broadcloth by Rainwood Quality Fabrics and costs $2.99/yard. The SKU is 720862 for the red. If you prefer, you can use other red and white fabric. |
