July 1 is the beginning of a new NORTEX year for whirling and twirling
together. We want to thank all the 2009-2010 NORTEX officers who served with
us. We also want to thank all the elected and appointed officers who will be
whirling and twirling with us for 2010-2011 and for assuming responsibility
in our organization. We appreciate your support for the past year and look
forward to another year with new goals. Due to some health issues, we
weren't able to accomplish as much as we had planned, but this year we vow
to work with much dedication and determination to improve our dancing
community. Thanks to each of you who continue to serve so faithfully for the
enjoyment of our favorite pastime. We look forward to a successful year of
whirling and twirling together.
The Installation Dance was a wonderful way to begin a new year and we want
to thank Jake and Sondra Martinez, Installation Dance Chairman, along with
the host clubs - Diamond Jubileers, Dublin Cloverleafs, Roadrunners, Stone
Steppers, Swinging Stars and Texas Reelers - for making our Installation
Dance such a memorable occasion for us. Also we want to thank Deborah
Carroll-Jones and Jon Jones and Christine and Theron Hixson for the
entertainment and dancing pleasure. It was a grand event we will cherish
forever. Congratulations to the club of the year, couple of the year, and
single of the year. The photos and names of all these awardees will be
published in the August Promenade.
In just a few days the Round-Up 2010 kick-off dance will be hosted by Circle
I on July 9. This will be the first time we officially wear our Round-Up
attire. This will be the beginning of many Preview Dances scheduled as we
walk the "Red Carpet" all across the Metroplex. It will be interesting to
see the creative ways each club displays their history for all to remember.
Please check the Preview Dance Schedule in the Promenade and add as many of
these dances as possible to your calendar. Many thanks to Larry and Kaye
Horstmann, Round-Up 2010 General Chair and your host of committee members
for getting us started in a grand way.

Let's start this year out strong. Please continue to keep us
informed of things with your club by sending us your newsletters, via mail
or email at nortexpkemp@verizon.net. We plan to visit our clubs, so the
better informed we are the better we can plan our agenda. Remember our next
NORTEX Quarterly Business Meeting is Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Swingtime
Center at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings. We need for
every club President to get the names of your club delegates for this
meeting to us as soon as possible. Being able to have the correct
information makes signing in a much easier process. We look forward to
seeing three delegates from each club at the meeting to conduct the business
of our association. November, 1985, twenty-five years ago a time capsule was
buried in front of Swingtime Center. This is the year we will unearth that
time capsule and have a special dance for this notable occasion. We
understand each club was given a pizza box for club memories and it was
buried in a concrete vault. We will have our NORTEX Quarterly Business
meeting and following the meeting will be the unearthing ceremony and a
dance, all occurring on Sunday November 21, 2010. Rick Smith and Toby
Thomason will call the squares and Jack and Ann von der Heide will cue the
rounds for our dancing pleasure. You will want to gather all your club
members together and join us for this very special afternoon. We are so
honored and excited to be NORTEX President for this historical event. So, go
ahead now and mark your calendars for November 21, 2010.
We will celebrate American Independence Day on July 4th. In all our
celebrations and summertime activities, let us remember those who have
served and continue to serve that we might enjoy our liberty. Let us never
forget that freedom is not free. God bless America!
Once again, we want to thank all the dancers for allowing us to serve you
and for whirling and twirling with us for one more year. Together we can and
plan to make this a year to remember.
Let's Whirl and Twirl Together. We look forward to seeing you in a square
very soon.
